Jmu Softball Game Action

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – Georgia Southern‘s Faith Barth hit a three-run home run on Saturday, leading the Eagles to a 3-1 victory over James Madison University (JMU) in the Dukes’ regular season finale. The game took place at Veterans Memorial Park, and it marked the end of the 2025 regular season for JMU.

JMU’s only run came in the third inning when Reed Butler had an RBI groundout. Both Payton List and Klee Gleason contributed three hits each to the offense, but their efforts were not enough to overcome Georgia Southern. The Dukes left eight runners stranded, including two in the seventh inning, which could have tied the game.

After the loss, JMU finished the regular season with a record of 25-25, including an 11-13 mark in conference play. The Dukes are heading to Troy, Alabama for the Sun Belt Tournament, where they are scheduled to begin play on Wednesday, May 7.

“We fought hard but couldn’t convert the opportunities we had,” said head coach Loren LaPorte. “As we head into tournament play, we will focus on the lessons learned and work to improve our execution.”
