Joachim Andersen Joins Fulham for £30 Million
Joachim Andersen is currently undergoing a medical examination with Fulham following a successful agreement for his transfer from Crystal Palace. The fee for the deal is reported to be approximately £30 million.
Fulham had previously submitted two bids for the player which were turned down earlier in the transfer window. The club is optimistic that Andersen will be registered by midday on Friday, enabling him to participate in the upcoming match against Leicester City.
Andersen, who played an entire match against Brentford last Sunday, had previously spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Fulham from Lyon. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace is actively working on securing another defender as part of their ongoing transfer strategy.
Newcastle United has made four offers for defender Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace. The latest bid, valued at around £65 million, was also rejected. Despite this setback, Newcastle remains engaged in discussions to finalize the signing of the England defender.
Additionally, Newcastle is exploring alternative options should their pursuit of Guehi not materialize. They have initiated talks with Bayer Leverkusen regarding defender Edmond Tapsoba and also inquired about Chelsea’s Axel Disasi, who shares a connection with new Newcastle sporting director Paul Mitchell from his tenure at Monaco.
On another front, Sander Berge is finalizing his move to Fulham from Burnley, with the midfielder undergoing a medical at the west London club. Should everything go as planned, an official announcement regarding his transfer is expected within the next 24 hours.
The fee for Berge is estimated to be an initial £20 million, plus an additional £5 million contingent on performance-related bonuses. Fulham had pursued a similar arrangement with Manchester United regarding Scott McTominay before shifting their focus to Berge.
The current transfer window is set to close on August 30 at 11:00 PM UK time for Premier League clubs, as well as 11:30 PM in Scotland. This year, the Premier League has coordinated its Deadline Day with other major European leagues to streamline the process.
