Jockey Kerrin Mcevoy Hospitalized After Rosehill Fall

Top Australian jockey Kerrin McEvoy was rushed to the hospital following a dramatic fall at Rosehill Racecourse. The incident occurred during the final race of the day, where McEvoy’s mount, Tintookie, tragically broke down on the home turn in the Birthday Card Stakes.

After narrowly missing victory in the Golden Slipper earlier in the day with Coleman, McEvoy rebounded by winning the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes aboard the longshot Zapateo. Despite this triumph, the day took a somber turn with the fall.

After the fall, McEvoy remained conscious and received immediate medical attention on the track before being transported to Westmead Hospital for further evaluation. Racing NSW chief steward Steve Railton confirmed that while McEvoy maintained movement, he experienced discomfort in his lower back and hip.

Tragically, Tintookie’s injuries were too severe for her to be saved, highlighting the dangers that jockeys and their mounts face in the high-stakes world of horse racing.

McEvoy’s rollercoaster day ended with a bittersweet victory, where he dedicated his win to his son Charlie, who had recently injured his wrist playing football.

The prestigious Ranvet Stakes was claimed by the Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman-trained Chain Of Lightning, a surprise winner with odds of $16, beating Tashi by three-quarters of a length, with Wee Nessy finishing third in a tight race.
