Joe Hendry to Defend TNA Title at WWE’s NXT Battleground

ORLANDO, Fla. — TNA World Champion Joe Hendry is set to make history as he prepares to defend his title at WWE’s NXT Battleground on June 9. This unprecedented move marks the first time a non-WWE championship will be contested at a WWE premium live event.
Hendry’s upcoming championship match follows his recent participation in a three-on-three match on the May 6 episode of NXT, where he teamed with Hank and Tank against The Dark State. The bout ended in disappointment when former NXT Champion Trick Williams interfered, leading to Hendry’s elimination from the match.
In response to the unfortunate turn of events, Hendry confronted NXT General Manager Ava, urging her to schedule a match against Williams for the TNA World Championship. Ava acquiesced, setting the stage for what promises to be a competitive clash.
Having only recently appeared at WrestleMania 41 in April, where he faced Randy Orton in a brief match, Hendry’s popularity continues to soar in the wrestling community. His theme song, “I Believe in Joe Hendry,” has gone viral, cementing his status as a beloved figure among wrestling fans.
“This is a huge opportunity, and I’m excited to showcase the TNA title on such a significant platform,” Hendry said. “The wrestling world is filled with surprises, and I’m ready for anything that comes my way.”
Hendry has built a substantial reputation in the wrestling world since his debut in 2013, wrestling for various promotions, including What Culture Pro Wrestling and Ring of Honor. His journey includes impressive achievements, such as being the longest-reigning TNA Digital Media Champion before winning the TNA World Championship.
As fans eagerly await the showdown at NXT Battleground, all eyes will be on Hendry to see if he can maintain his momentum and protect his title against Williams.
