Joe Richards Requests AFL Trade to Port Adelaide
Joe Richards, a forward for Collingwood Football Club, has officially requested a trade to Port Adelaide. This announcement comes at the commencement of the 2024 Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period, as reported by Riley Beveridge of AFL.com.au on Monday morning.
Richards, 24, faced offers from both the Power and his current team, the Magpies, but has chosen to make the move to Adelaide. Port Adelaide has proposed a three-year contract for the player. Meanwhile, a similar offer was on the table for Richards to extend his tenure with Collingwood beyond 2025. The decision follows a season where Richards experienced a breakthrough, despite facing challenges with a foot injury and illness, allowing him participation in nine senior games towards the latter part of the campaign.
Port Adelaide also secured an agreement with contracted forward Jack Lukosius. The club plans to leverage both Richards and Lukosius in their attacking strategy for the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, the Richmond Football Club confirmed the free agency move of Jack Graham heading west, amid ongoing transfers taking place across the AFL as the trade period unfolds.
