St. John's Vs Georgetown Basketball Game Madison Square Garden

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The St. John's men’s basketball team (14-3, 5-1 BIG EAST) will face Georgetown (12-4, 3-2 BIG EAST) at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. in a highly anticipated BIG EAST showdown. The Red Storm, riding a wave of momentum with nine wins in their last 10 games, are off to their best start in conference play since the 2000-01 season.

The game will be streamed on Peacock, with John Fanta and Donny Marshall providing commentary and Caroline Pineda reporting from the arena. Fans can purchase tickets online or by calling the box office at 1-888-GO-STORM. St. John’s is also hosting “Local Hoops Night,” featuring a raffle for a Limited-Edition St. John’s jacket and 1,500 keychains to be given away post-game.

St. John’s enters the contest fresh off an 80-68 victory over Villanova on Saturday, where they rallied with a 14-3 run to secure the win. Junior standout Luis Jr. led the charge with a season-high 30 points, earning him BIG EAST Player of the Week honors. He also recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 10 rebounds, joining teammate Ejiofor as one of the league’s top rebounders.

The Red Storm have been dominant on the boards, ranking eighth nationally in rebounds per game (42.0) and leading the BIG EAST in offensive rebounds (14.9 per game) and rebounding margin (+7.8). Their defense has also been a key factor, ranking sixth in defensive efficiency and fourth in blocks per game (6.1).

Tuesday’s matchup marks the 125th meeting between the two programs, with St. John’s holding a 67-57 all-time advantage. The Red Storm have won seven straight against Georgetown and could extend that streak to eight, their longest since a 10-game run from 1949 to 1972.

Georgetown, under second-year head coach Ed Cooley, has shown improvement this season, already surpassing last year’s win total with a 12-4 record. However, the Hoyas are on a two-game losing streak after falling to nationally ranked Marquette and UConn. Freshman Thomas Sorber, a four-time BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, leads the team with averages of 14.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game.

Following Tuesday’s game, St. John’s will travel to face Seton Hall on Jan. 18 at the Prudential Center in Newark.
