John Force to Attend NHRA Las Vegas Event Despite Ongoing Recovery
NHRA Drag Racing legend John Force has received medical clearance to attend the 24th Ford Performance NHRA Nationals, scheduled for November 1-3 at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This marks a significant step in his recovery from a traumatic brain injury (TBI) sustained in a crash on June 23 in Richmond.
Force, who has accumulated 157 tour victories and 16 NHRA world championships over his 50-year career, has been undergoing treatment not only for the recent injury but also for the cumulative effects of numerous hard hits he has endured. Despite his health challenges, Force is eager to support his three race teams, including his daughter Brittany Force‘s Top Fuel team, and the two John Force Racing teams competing for the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series Funny Car championship.
Before the crash, Force had already secured two wins this year and was a strong contender for the championship. After missing two races, his Peak Antifreeze and Coolant Chevrolet team returned with former world champion Jack Beckman driving the Peak Camaro. Beckman recently won the NHRA Midwest Nationals in St. Louis on September 30 and is currently second in the Mission driver standings, trailing only teammate Austin Prock.
Force expressed his gratitude for the support from his family, fans, and sponsors during his recovery. He emphasized his motivation to be present at the event, stating, “I want to show my support for our race teams, the fans, and all our sponsors. They’ve stuck with me during a hard time, and I want them to know that I haven’t forgotten them and I haven’t gone anywhere. I’ve just been doing my rehab, trying to stay strong”.
Force’s attendance at the Las Vegas event is a testament to his dedication and the strong bond he has with his team and the NHRA community. He is looking forward to being there for his daughter Brittany and the rest of his team, expressing his love and appreciation for them.
