Jon Jones Declares He’s ‘Done’ in UFC After Heavyweight Uncertainty

Las Vegas, NV – Jon Jones, the reigning UFC heavyweight champion, announced that he is ‘done’ competing in the Octagon during a recent FaceTime call with MMA fighter Kamal Gadzhiev. His statement comes amid ongoing speculation about a highly anticipated fight against interim champion Tom Aspinall.
Fans had hoped to see Jones face Aspinall after months of negotiations, especially since Jones hasn’t fought since his defense against Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 in November. However, recent developments have raised doubts about the matchup.
UFC CEO Dana White addressed the situation during an Instagram live stream, emphasizing the promotion’s intent to make the heavyweight unification bout happen. Despite this, both Jones and Aspinall have hinted at uncertainty regarding the fight.
“I’m done, I’m done,” Jones reportedly told Gadzhiev, hinting at retirement. These comments have left fans disheartened, as many took to social media to express their frustration regarding the stagnant heavyweight division.
“Strip this rat b—-, the division’s been held up for years by a guy who doesn’t want to fight anymore,” one fan tweeted, reflecting the overall sentiment of disappointment among the UFC community.
Aspinall, the longest-reigning interim heavyweight champion, has yet to respond to Jones’s announcement. If Jones follows through with his decision to retire, Aspinall could be set to fight another top contender for the undisputed heavyweight title.
As of now, there is no official announcement regarding Jones’s future plans or any potential changes in the heavyweight division.
