Jordan Watkins Ole Miss Wide Receiver Nfl Draft

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Former Ole Miss wide receiver Jordan Watkins has been drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 4th round of the 2025 NFL Draft with the 138th overall pick.

Watkins, measuring 5-foot-11 and weighing 196 pounds, impressed scouts during the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine with a remarkable 4.37-second 40-yard dash, positioning him among the fastest receivers of the draft.

After a standout career at Ole Miss, where he served as a top deep threat in Lane Kiffin’s high-powered offense, Watkins is eager to bring his skills to the 49ers. He began his college career at the Louisville Cardinals, where he played for two seasons before transferring to Ole Miss.

In his three seasons with the Rebels, Watkins accumulated 142 receptions for 2,096 yards and 14 touchdowns. His senior year was particularly fruitful, as he recorded 906 receiving yards and nine touchdowns, including a record-setting performance against the Arkansas Razorbacks where he had 254 receiving yards and five touchdowns in a single game.

Watkins’ draft profile suggests he could secure a spot on the 49ers’ roster as a dependable slot receiver and a special teams contributor. While scouts note he may struggle to get separation from NFL defensive backs, his toughness and ability to absorb contact could play to his advantage.

As he transitions to the professional level, Watkins will be looking to establish himself as a key part of the 49ers’ offense while continuing to develop his skills as a returner. His journey from college standout to NFL player has just begun.
