Jordy Bahl Named Top 3 Finalist for Collegiate Player of the Year

LINCOLN, Neb. — Jordy Bahl, a standout pitcher and utility player for the Nebraska softball team, was announced as a Top 3 finalist for the USA Softball/ESPN Collegiate Player of the Year on Monday. This recognition marks her first appearance among the top finalists after previously being a three-time top-10 finalist.
Bahl, who hails from Papillion, Neb., is the first Husker ever to be named a top-3 finalist for this prestigious award. Joining her in the spotlight are Arkansas’ Bri Ellis and Texas Tech’s NiJaree Canady, the reigning Collegiate Player of the Year.
This season, Bahl has been recognized as both the Big Ten Player of the Year and the Big Ten Pitcher of the Year, making her the first player in the conference’s history to earn both honors in the same season. She was also selected to the All-Big Ten first team.
Throughout the season, Bahl has shown exceptional skills, earning two national player of the week honors and a total of six Big Ten weekly awards, including five pitcher-of-the-week titles. She is the first Husker in school history to record 15 doubles and 15 home runs in a single season.
Bahl has accumulated impressive statistics this year with 23 home runs, 69 runs scored, and a .475 batting average. On the mound, she has a remarkable ERA of 1.50 and holds a record of 25-6, striking out 270 batters across 186.11 innings.
In a standout performance at the Baton Rouge Regional last weekend, Bahl achieved a 5-for-5 game with four home runs, seven walks, eight runs, and seven RBIs, while also securing two wins as a pitcher, allowing only one run and two hits in 12 innings with 16 strikeouts.
The winner of the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be announced on May 27 during the athlete’s banquet ahead of the Women’s College World Series.
