Josh Allen Lamar Jackson Nfl Mvp Race 2024

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The 2024 NFL MVP race has come down to a thrilling showdown between Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, with both players delivering historic performances this season. The debate intensified after their standout performances in the AFC divisional playoffs, where Allen led the Bills to a victory over the Ravens, advancing to the AFC Championship.

Allen, 27, finished the regular season with 3,731 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and six interceptions, while adding 531 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground. His ability to minimize mistakes was unparalleled, as he posted the lowest percentage of plays with a sack, fumble, or interception (4.2%) since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. Allen also became the first quarterback in NFL history to record three games with multiple passing and rushing touchdowns in a single season.

Jackson, 28, countered with a career-best campaign, throwing for 4,712 yards and 41 touchdowns while rushing for 915 yards and four scores. He became the first player in NFL history to achieve 4,000 passing yards and 900 rushing yards in a season, setting franchise records in passing touchdowns and yards per attempt. Jackson also led the Ravens to a 7-3 record against playoff teams, showcasing his dominance against top-tier competition.

“Both players have made compelling cases,” said ESPN analyst Matt Bowen. “Allen did more with less, given the Bills’ roster turnover, while Jackson elevated his game to new heights after already winning two MVPs.”

Other players in the MVP conversation included Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, who rushed for 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns, and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who led the league in passing yards (4,918) and touchdowns (43) despite his team missing the playoffs.

As the NFL Honors ceremony approaches, the MVP race remains too close to call, with Allen and Jackson both deserving of the accolade for their extraordinary seasons.
