NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Josh Berry appeared to have won the Battle of Broadway 150 on Friday night, but his victory was taken away after a post-race inspection found his car was disqualified. A left-side weight violation on his No. 21 Pro Late Model resulted in a disappointing turn of events for the Tennessee driver.

This year has been notable for Berry, who previously won a race in Las Vegas and has generally performed well in the Cup Series. At Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, he was the only Cup Series driver in the race and surged to the lead at lap 82, finishing ahead of the pack. However, after the race, officials determined his car did not meet the weight regulations.

Trey Craig, who originally finished second, was awarded the win following Berry’s disqualification. Craig expressed disappointment but acknowledged the competitiveness of racing against a Cup Series driver. “It’s hard to catch him up. He’s a hell of a wheelman,” Craig said.

Berry praised the Nashville Fairgrounds, sharing his long-standing love for the track as a hometown racer. He had hoped for a repeat performance in the upcoming NASCAR race at Nashville Superspeedway, where he targets redemption following the heartbreaking disqualification.

Berry recently finished 12th at Charlotte and had good speed in Kansas, indicating potential success on intermediate tracks. He is determined to overcome the recent setback and hopes his local supporters can help push him towards another victory.
