Josh Oliver Scores Touchdown in Vikings’ Dominant First Quarter Against Rams
In the Week 8 matchup of the NFL season, Minnesota Vikings tight end Josh Oliver made a significant impact in the team’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. On Thursday night at SoFi Stadium, Oliver scored a touchdown on the Vikings’ opening drive, helping his team continue their strong performance in the first quarter.
The Vikings, led by quarterback Sam Darnold, drove 70 yards on eight plays without facing a third down. Darnold completed all four of his passes on the drive, including three for 44 yards to receiver Justin Jefferson, before capping the drive with a five-yard touchdown pass to Josh Oliver.
This touchdown marked another strong first quarter for the Vikings, who had outscored opponents 58-3 in the first quarter entering this game. The Rams, on the other hand, had been outscored 35-6 in the first quarter prior to this matchup.
Oliver’s performance comes as he has been managing a wrist injury, though he had full participation in practice leading up to the game. The Vikings also had T.J. Hockenson listed as questionable with a knee injury, but Hockenson is expected to return to the 53-man roster soon after a nine-month recovery from right knee surgery.
