Journalism Leads as Favorite in 151st Kentucky Derby

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Red-hot Journalism is the 3-1 morning-line favorite for the 151st Kentucky Derby, set for May 3 at Churchill Downs. The horse has drawn a favorable No. 8 post position, which historically ties for the second-most victories in the race.
Sovereignty follows as the 5-1 second choice in the competitive 20-horse field. It will start from the No. 18 post, positioned outside of Sandman, who has drawn the 17th spot and is listed as the 6-1 third choice for the $5 million derby.
This year’s Derby marks the return of renowned trainer Bob Baffert, who brings two entries. His return comes after a three-year suspension following the disqualification of Medina Spirit, who failed a drug test after winning the 2021 race.
The Kentucky Derby, known as the “Run for the Roses,” is the first leg of the Triple Crown Series.
