Julius Randle to Miss Timberwolves Debut Against Knicks, Expected to Play Later This Week
Julius Randle, the newly acquired forward for the Minnesota Timberwolves, will not make his debut for the team in their preseason game against the New York Knicks on Sunday, according to Coach Chris Finch. Finch informed reporters before the game that Randle, who is recovering from last season’s shoulder surgery, will not participate in the matchup against his former team.
Despite missing the Sunday game, Finch indicated that Randle is expected to play at some point this week. The Timberwolves have two more preseason games scheduled: a visit to the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday and a home game against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday. It remains unclear whether Randle will play in one or both of these games.
Randle’s absence on Sunday is part of the team’s cautious approach to his recovery. Meanwhile, other key players like Karl-Anthony Towns and Donte DiVincenzo are expected to be available for the game against the Knicks. Mike Conley, however, has been ruled out for Sunday’s game, presumably for rest.
The game between the Timberwolves and the Knicks is set to tip off at 5 p.m. at Madison Square Garden in New York, promising several intriguing storylines, especially given the recent trade that involved Towns and other players moving between the two teams).
