Jurgen Klopp Takes on New Role as Red Bull’s Global Head of Soccer
Jurgen Klopp, former manager of Liverpool Football Club, has reportedly accepted a new position as the Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull. The announcement follows Klopp’s departure from Liverpool in May after a successful nine-year tenure that included significant achievements in domestic and European competitions.
According to sources from Sky Germany, Klopp’s new role will involve overseeing Red Bull’s international network of football clubs. These include teams such as RB Leipzig in Germany, Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, and the New York Red Bulls in the United States. Klopp is expected to commence his duties on January 1st, marking his return to the sport.
While Klopp had previously expressed his intention to take a break from coaching, this opportunity seems to align with his interests. The 57-year-old had mentioned his desire to rest following his decision to leave Liverpool earlier this year.
In a strategic move, Klopp has secured an exit clause in his contract with Red Bull. This clause would allow him to transition to a managerial role with the German national team, should an offer be extended. Recently, there has been widespread speculation that Klopp could be considered as a potential successor to Julian Nagelsmann, the current national team manager. Nagelsmann’s contract is expected to conclude following the 2026 World Cup.
Rudi Voller, Sporting Director of the German national team, recently indicated that they would pursue Klopp if he decided to return to management. “We will definitely talk to him,” Voller remarked in a recent interview.
This development comes amid growing anticipation around Klopp’s next career move, as he has largely remained silent on his future plans since leaving Liverpool.
