FLOURTOWN, Pa. — Justin Rose found himself at the bottom of the leaderboard during the PGA Tour event at the Wissahickon course on Friday. With two rounds completed and 36 holes ahead, oddsmakers at FanDuel have not listed any odds for him to win after a difficult day filled with cold rain.

The Wissahickon, a creek that runs through the course, reached dangerous levels due to the relentless rain, impacting play. Rose, who previously claimed victory in major events at Aronimink and the U.S. Open, scored a 77, placing him seven over par.

After finishing his round, Rose was seen in a two-row golf cart, making the quarter-mile trek back to the clubhouse amidst the downpour. Shielded by a soaked baseball cap, he engaged with fans stuck in the same predicament, showing camaraderie as they waited for the exit to dry land.

One of those fans, Emory Van Cleve, shared his experience of watching the event with his family. They purchased tickets months in advance, only to be met with unfavorable weather on Friday. Despite the challenges, they appreciated witnessing the sport live, noting how they could almost feel the spray from Austin Eckroat’s impressive shot.

As attendees navigated muddy paths and soaked clothing, many expressed their dedication to the sport, willing to endure harsh weather to be near the action. Even with difficult conditions, the experience of attending live golf remains cherished.

Van Cleve and his group faced a lengthy journey back to their vehicle after the event, with a 25-minute wait for a shuttle. They arrived home to a comforting hot shower, only to watch the highlights of the day’s round they had just experienced in real-time.

The contrast between the warmth of home and the dampness of the course highlighted the passion golf fans have for their sport, regardless of the weather.
