Juventus Faces Al-Ain in Club World Cup Opener

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Juventus will open their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup campaign against Al-Ain on Wednesday, June 18, at Audi Field. The match kicks off at 9:00 p.m. ET. Juventus qualified for the tournament through their FIFA ranking as the eighth-best eligible UEFA team, while Al-Ain earned their spot by winning the AFC Champions League.
Al-Ain, a prominent UAE club, has won the Pro League 14 times and previously reached the final of the Club World Cup in 2018, finishing as runners-up to Real Madrid. While Juventus holds a rich history, having won the Intercontinental Cup twice, they do not take their opponents lightly.
This will be the first meeting between the two teams. Juventus boasts players like Dusan Vlahovic, who has 15 goals this season and is facing uncertainty about his future. USMNT stars Weston McKennie and Timothy Weah are expected to feature prominently for Juventus.
Al-Ain’s lineup will likely include goalkeeper Rui Patricio, who is making his debut for the team. Coach Vladimir Ivić has led the squad as they aim to regain their winning form after a disappointing domestic season.
“This is a big chance for us to prove ourselves on the world stage,” Patricio said ahead of the match. “We want to make our fans proud.”
Juventus holds the record for the most European Cup defeats but is looking to turn their fortunes around. The team has had a mixed season, finishing fourth in Serie A, but their tactical discipline makes them a formidable opponent.
“We are focused and ready to start this tournament with a win,” said coach Igor Tudor. “The team has been working hard, and we want to show our best.”
The Club World Cup is a significant event for both clubs, with Juventus expected to emerge victorious in what is considered a challenging match. Kickoff is set for 9:00 p.m. ET, with streaming options available for fans around the globe.
