Juventus Faces Crucial UCL Clash Against Club Brugge in League Phase
BRUGES, Belgium — Juventus will face Club Brugge in a pivotal Champions League league phase match on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, at Jan Breydel Stadium. The game marks Juventus’ first UCL fixture of the year, as they aim to build on their recent Serie A victory against AC Milan and solidify their position in the league phase table.
Juventus, currently 14th in the UCL table, are coming off a strong performance against Milan, which has sparked optimism among fans and players alike. However, Club Brugge, sitting just one point behind Juventus, pose a significant challenge. The Belgian side has been in excellent form, unbeaten in 13 domestic games and boasting a recent three-game stretch where they scored 11 goals.
“The team felt like they had been building to a moment like that even though the results weren’t completely showing it,” said Juventus coach Thiago Motta. “Now, the ability to follow up the big showing against Milan comes to the fore.”
Club Brugge, second in the Belgian Pro League, have also recorded impressive wins in the Champions League, including victories over Sporting and Aston Villa. Their top scorer, Christos Tzolis, has netted 12 goals this season, making him a key player to watch.
Juventus will rely on players like Nico Gonzalez, Teun Koopmeiners, and Douglas Luiz to navigate the match. Samuel Mbangula, who began his youth career at Club Brugge, will also feature prominently. “This seems like the easy narrative to go with — especially with how he’s playing of late,” said a team insider. “Mbangula really has come back into form after a relatively quiet fall and early winter.”
The match kicks off at 9 p.m. CET and will be broadcast on TNT Sports 4 in the United Kingdom and Sky Sports 252 in Italy. Streaming options include DAZN Canada, Amazon Prime Video, and Sky Go Italia.
With both teams vying for a higher position in the league phase table, the stakes are high. A win for Juventus could propel them into the top eight, while Club Brugge aims to continue their strong domestic form on the European stage.
