Juventus Holds Firm on Cambiaso Amid Manchester City’s €50M Pursuit
TURIN, Italy — Juventus is resisting offers for defender Andrea Cambiaso despite interest from Manchester City, with reports suggesting a bid exceeding €50 million could force the Italian club to reconsider. The 24-year-old Italy international has been a key player under manager Thiago Motta this season, despite recent struggles with an ankle injury.
According to Tuttosport, Juventus has no intention of selling Cambiaso during the January transfer window. However, a substantial offer from Manchester City could prompt the Bianconeri to engage in negotiations. Cambiaso, who has two goals and two assists in 25 appearances this season, is under contract until June 2029.
Manchester City’s pursuit of Cambiaso comes as they seek to bolster their defensive options. The Premier League club is reportedly preparing a bid between £50 million and £55 million for the versatile full-back. City’s interest follows their recent signing of Brazilian defender Vitor Reis and ongoing negotiations for Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush and Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov.
“Cambiaso has been a mainstay in our side this season,” said a Juventus spokesperson. “While we are not actively looking to sell, every player has a price.”
Cambiaso’s versatility, capable of playing on both flanks and in attacking roles, makes him an attractive target for City. His absence from recent matches has been due to an ankle injury sustained ahead of a December draw with Venezia.
Juventus, meanwhile, continues to strengthen its defense, having recently signed Portuguese right-back Alberto Costa. The club is also seeking additional reinforcements to replace injured center-back Gleison Bremer.
As the transfer window progresses, all eyes will be on whether Manchester City can meet Juventus’ valuation for Cambiaso and secure his services for the remainder of the season.
