Juventus Looks to Reclaim Top Spot in Serie A Against Lecce
Juventus aims to regain their position at the top of the Serie A standings as they face off against Lecce on Sunday. Currently trailing Inter by two points, the reigning champions have the opportunity to overtake their rivals and build momentum in their quest for another title. Inter will not return to league play until January 28 due to their participation in the Supercoppa Italiana final against Napoli on Monday.
Lecce, led by coach Roberto D’Aversa, will be fielding their strongest lineup, with Gabriel Strefezza partnering with striker Nikola Kristovic upfront. After a promising start to the season, Lecce is in dire need of points, having failed to secure a victory in their last four matches, with three defeats and one draw.
Potential Lecce XI: Falcone; Gendrey, Pongracic, Baschirotto, Gallo; Kaba, Ramadani, Gonzalez; Oudin, Kristovic, Strefezza.
Juventus, on the other hand, will have to cope without the suspended duo of Federico Chiesa and Adrien Rabiot. Manager Massimiliano Allegri is expected to field Kenan Yildiz as the central striker alongside Dusan Vlahovic. Weston McKennie, the U.S. national team midfielder, will start as the central midfielder, flanked by Andrea Cambiaso and Filip Kostic on the wings.
Potential Juventus XI: Szczesny; Gatti, Bremer, Danilo; Cambiaso, McKennie, Locatelli, Miretti, Kostic; Yildiz, Vlahovic.
Juventus are considered favorites in this encounter as they have the opportunity to reclaim the top spot in Serie A, pending the outcome of Inter’s game against Atalanta.
Prediction: Juventus 2, Udinese 0.
