Juventus Names Massimo Brambilla as Interim Manager Amid Struggles
Turin, Italy – Juventus FC has announced the dismissal of manager Igor Tudor on Monday, just days before their crucial match against Udinese. As the team struggles in Serie A, caretaker manager Massimo Brambilla will lead the squad when they face Udinese at Allianz Stadium on Wednesday.
Brambilla, who previously managed the club’s Next Gen team, steps into a challenging situation, having less than 48 hours to prepare. This midweek fixture marks the first Serie A game of the season held during a less busy schedule for teams. Juventus currently sits eighth in the league, while Udinese is just below them in ninth place.
Juventus is on the worst run of form in 16 years, failing to score in their last four league matches — a streak not seen since 1991. They recently lost to Lazio, continuing a winless streak that dates back eight games in all competitions. Brambilla’s challenge is to halt this downward spiral, even if only for a single game before a permanent manager is appointed.
Despite the abrupt change, Brambilla has experience coaching in Serie C and hopes to inject some much-needed energy into the team. ‘It’s a difficult time for us,’ he stated. ‘We need to stay united and work harder as a team. The players are responsible too, but we need to look forward.’ Questions loom over the lineup as some key players like Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal are sidelined due to injury.
On the other hand, Udinese seeks to capitalize on Juventus’ struggles. After an early-season success, the visitors managed just one victory in their last five games, but they come off a recent win against Lecce. ‘We want to cause an upset at the Allianz Stadium,’ said an Udinese player, hinting at their readiness to face the old rivals.
Juventus has historically dominated this matchup, winning over 70% of their encounters throughout history, especially at home. However, with current trends against them, many fans remain cautious. Kickoff is set for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. local time, and even with the circumstances surrounding the match, the atmosphere in Turin is expected to be electrifying. Time will tell if Brambilla can deliver the bounce-back they desperately need.
