Juwan Johnson Secures $30 Million Deal with Saints

NEW ORLEANS, La. — Tight end Juwan Johnson has re-signed with the New Orleans Saints on a three-year contract worth $30.75 million, as announced by his agent AJ Vaynerchuk on social media. The deal includes $21.25 million guaranteed and has the potential to reach $34.5 million depending on performance incentives.
The 28-year-old Johnson had a standout season in 2024, recording 50 receptions for 548 yards and three touchdowns, marking a career best in each category. After missing most of the previous year’s training camp due to a foot injury, he returned to play all 17 games last season. Johnson’s seven receiving touchdowns led the Saints in 2022.
Originally signed as an undrafted free agent in 2020, Johnson transitioned from wide receiver to tight end under former Saints coach Sean Payton‘s guidance. The move capitalized on his athleticism and playmaking ability, with him standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 231 pounds, along with a remarkable catch radius.
During his five-year career, Johnson has accumulated 146 receptions for 1,622 yards and 18 touchdowns, making him a valuable asset in the red zone. His 18 touchdowns since 2021 rank him eighth among tight ends in the league.
While this re-signing secures Johnson’s future with New Orleans, it also raises questions about the team’s cap space, as the Saints had previously indicated financial constraints in retaining key players.
Looking ahead, Johnson’s continued growth in the Saints’ offensive scheme, now under the direction of Kellen Moore, may provide further opportunities for him to shine in the upcoming seasons.
