NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Country music stars Kane Brown and Jelly Roll have teamed up for a powerful new collaboration titled “Haunted,” set to release on Brown’s upcoming album, *The High Road*, this Friday, Jan. 24. The song tackles the heavy subject of depression, a topic both artists have openly discussed in their careers.

In a candid interview, Brown revealed that his friendship with Jelly Roll wasn’t always smooth. “I heard of him before he had ever gotten into the country industry,” Brown said, explaining their shared backgrounds. “Our buddy, Taylor Phillips, told Jelly … so Jelly will tell you this, he hated me.”

Brown, now 31, recalled reaching out to Jelly Roll to clear the air. “I ended up reaching out to Jelly, I was like, ‘Hey buddy, this industry’s crazy. If you ever need to sit down and talk to me, or play COD’ — I play a lot of Call of Duty — ‘You can come and talk to me about it.'”

Jelly Roll took him up on the offer, and the two bonded over video games. “We ended up playing Call of Duty and hitting it off,” Brown said. “Random FaceTimes at 3AM.” Their friendship blossomed, leading to the collaboration on “Haunted.”

During the music video shoot for the song, Jelly Roll humorously acknowledged their rocky start. “He was like, ‘I used to f–king hate this dude!'” Brown recounted. “Then, he was like, ‘But now I love this guy!'”

Brown expressed his admiration for Jelly Roll, saying, “Jelly’s such a good guy, man. I love him and I’m proud of his success. He amplified this song, I’m just glad he’s on it.” The duo hopes the track will raise awareness about mental health struggles. “Hopefully we get a big hit that’s huge awareness for people to know they’re not alone going through depression,” Brown added.

Brown’s new album, *The High Road*, marks another milestone in his career, which began with viral social media covers and has since grown to include nine No. 1 hits. He will embark on a tour in March to support the album.

Jelly Roll, known for his raw honesty about his tumultuous past, has become one of country music’s most compelling figures. His collaboration with Brown highlights the power of friendship and shared experiences in overcoming personal challenges.
