Kansas State Wildcats Vs Cincinnati Bearcats College Basketball

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Kansas State University seeks to continue its momentum when it faces the University of Cincinnati at Fifth Third Arena on March 5, 2025. After snapping a four-game losing streak with a victory over Colorado, the Wildcats (14-15) look to build on their recent success against the Bearcats (17-12), whom they defeated earlier in the season.

“We are excited about having another shot at Cincinnati,” said Kansas State coach Jerome Tang. “We’ve been working hard to overcome our recent struggles on the road.”

Despite their previous win, Kansas State has shown inconsistency on away games this season, creating challenges as they prepare for Cincinnati. The Wildcats, who boast a 34.4% field goal percentage and an 84.2% rate from the free throw line against Colorado, will need to elevate their game to conquer the Bearcats on their home court.

Kansas State recorded significant offensive stats in their last game, including 29 rebounds and 13 assists, while forcing Colorado into 12 turnovers. However, their performance was less than solid as 39.3% of Colorado’s shots found the net.

“We need to create our own energy, especially when we are not at home,” Tang said. “Our road performances have lacked the intensity we need to compete.”

The Bearcats are coming off a challenging match against Houston, which they lost 73-64. Despite shooting 44.1% from the field, Cincinnati struggled to keep pace with Houston’s offense, allowing their opponent to shoot 53.6%. The Bearcats managed only 21.4% from the three-point line in that matchup.

“We need to bounce back and show what we can do,” said Cincinnati guard Day Day Thomas, who scored 19 points in the loss to Houston. “Every game from here on out is crucial.”

Cincinnati’s strong defensive team allows just 65.3 points per game, ranking 25th in the nation. Their compelling statistics extend to forcing 12.6 turnovers per game, showcasing their defensive capabilities. With their home crowd behind them, the Bearcats hope to leverage their strengths to avenge their earlier loss to Kansas State.

This upcoming clash features a critical showdown between two teams vying for positioning as the postseason approaches. Both teams are striving to establish their on-court dominance and improve their standings in the Big 12.
