LAWRENCE, Kan. — Kansas head coach Bill Self is looking for his team to bounce back as the Jayhawks face Colorado on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Allen Fieldhouse. Despite struggling through a tough stretch, the team hopes to find momentum against a Buffaloes squad still seeking its first Big 12 victory.

After a disappointing loss to Kansas State last weekend, Kansas (16-7, 7-5 Big 12) is hoping to build reliable performance and demonstrate the consistent energy Self has been demanding. ‘We need guys to raise their level of intensity consistently,’ he said. ‘When you raise it only when told, it shows a lack of commitment to the process.’

Despite its record, Colorado (9-14, 0-12 Big 12) remains a competitive opponent. Buffaloes head coach Tad Boyle, who led the team to a stunning victory over UConn earlier this season, faces a challenging matchup as his team continues to seek redemption after a series of narrow losses, including seven by 10 points or fewer.

‘Their personnel is good enough to beat UConn,’ Self commented, but added, ‘they haven’t closed out games as needed.’

On Saturday, Colorado narrowly lost 69-59 to Houston despite trailing by only four points with less than four minutes left. This season, the Buffaloes’ performance has faltered at pivotal moments, as they repeatedly allow opponents to make decisive runs.

Manning’s return to Lawrence as an assistant coach with Colorado added another layer to the upcoming match. ‘It’s a special place,’ Manning noted about Allen Fieldhouse, where he remains a revered figure.

The Jayhawks will rely on the energy of their home crowd to overcome recent struggles and demonstrate improvement. Self emphasized the importance of fan support, particularly during challenging times.

‘We need everybody,’ he said, urging fans to rally behind the team’s efforts. ‘That’s when we need our support the most.’

The upcoming clash marks the first of two meetings between Kansas and Colorado within a two-week span. The Jayhawks aim to secure a much-needed victory before heading to face Utah in their next Big 12 challenge.

Tip-off for the matchup is set for 8 p.m. Central Time, with coverage available on ESPN2 and the Jayhawk Radio Network.
