Kansas State Vs Oklahoma State Football

MANHATTAN, Kansas — Under the leadership of coach Chris Klieman, the Kansas State Wildcats showcased their skill in a crucial Big 12 home opener against Oklahoma State. The game, held at the Bill Snyder Family Stadium, saw the No. 25-ranked Kansas State secure a decisive 42-20 victory over the visiting team, who were also ranked No. 25.

Kansas State now boasts a 4-1 overall record and 1-1 in the Big 12, while Oklahoma State fell to 3-2, with no wins in their conference games. Quarterback Avery Johnson, coming off a disappointing performance against Brigham Young, delivered an impressive game, accounting for a total of five touchdowns — two rushing and three passing. He threw for 259 yards and rushed for 60 yards.

Running back DJ Giddens contributed significantly, rushing for 187 yards and scoring a 66-yard touchdown. Wide receivers Jadon Jackson and Jayce Brown also played pivotal roles, with Jackson catching five passes for 55 yards and Brown collecting four passes for 78 yards and a touchdown.

The Wildcats amassed a total of 559 offensive yards compared to Oklahoma State’s 490. Despite Kansas State’s impressive yardage, Oklahoma State conceded too often to field goals in the first half, and a critical interception by Jacob Parrish after halftime disrupted attempts to close the gap.

As the game progressed, Kansas State extended their lead. Johnson’s 13-yard run increased Kansas State’s lead to 42-13 with over 11 minutes remaining in the game. The Wildcats’ defense was instrumental, with Colby McCalister recovering a fumble from Oklahoma State’s Alan Bowman, contributing to Kansas State’s growing advantage.

Kansas State’s previous struggles in the red zone, witnessed during their loss against Brigham Young, were overturned during this game as they held Oklahoma State to three field goal attempts, including one miss.

With Kansas State taking a bye week, their next challenge awaits against Colorado on October 12. The team aims to build on the momentum from their recent victory.
