Karl Malone, known as “The Mailman,” is a legendary figure in the world of basketball. Born on July 24, 1963, in Summerfield, Louisiana, Malone has left an indelible mark on the sport. Standing at 6-9 and weighing 265 pounds, he was a dominant force on the court during his 19-year NBA career.

Malone was drafted by the Utah Jazz in the first round of the 1985 NBA Draft, 13th overall, after playing for Louisiana Tech. His career is highlighted by numerous accolades, including being named to the NBA’s Top 50 and Top 75 lists, induction into the Hall of Fame, two MVP awards, and 14 All-Star appearances. He also earned 11 All-NBA First Team selections and three All-NBA Defensive First Team honors.

Malone’s impressive statistics include averaging 25.0 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game over his career. He played for the Utah Jazz for the majority of his career but also had a stint with the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2003-04 season.

Aside from his NBA career, Malone is also a two-time Olympic gold medalist, contributing to the success of the U.S. men’s basketball team. His jersey number, #32, has been retired by the Utah Jazz in recognition of his contributions to the team.
