Kaytron Allen Nears Record as Penn State Hosts Nebraska
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Kaytron Allen, senior running back for the Penn State Nittany Lions, stands on the brink of history as the team prepares to face Nebraska tonight in their regular-season finale.
With only two games remaining, Allen has accumulated 917 rushing yards in the 2025 season, falling just 83 yards short of his second consecutive 1,000-yard season. However, the number he and his teammates are truly focused on is 139. That is the number of rushing yards he needs to surpass Evan Royster and become Penn State’s all-time rushing leader.
Coming off a career-high 181 yards against Michigan State last week, Allen’s impressive performance has been a highlight of his college career. Penn State’s interim head coach Terry Smith praised Allen’s growth, saying, “He’s matured tremendously. He’s a leader. We’ve got a bunch of young running backs in the room. He leads those guys.”
Allen’s achievements include a total of 3,794 rushing yards and 36 rushing touchdowns during his time with the Nittany Lions. This season alone, he has recorded 12 touchdowns and is known for his hard work and dedication to the team’s success.
The matchup against the Cornhuskers (7-3, 4-3) kicks off at 7 p.m. at Beaver Stadium, marking a significant moment as it is Senior Day for the Lions. They are 7.5-point favorites going into the game.
Penn State must contain Nebraska’s star running back Emmett Johnson, who has rushed for 1,131 yards and 14 touchdowns this season. Freshman quarterback TJ Lateef, who had a successful debut against UCLA, will also be a key player for the Cornhuskers.
As the Nittany Lions aim for a victory, all eyes will be on Allen to see if he can achieve the records many are anticipating. His performance will not only shape the game but also cement his legacy at Penn State.
