Keenan Allen, the veteran wide receiver for the Chicago Bears, is looking to turn his season around as the team prepares to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6. Despite being off the injury report after dealing with a foot injury since the start of the season, Allen has had a disappointing start to the year. He has not managed more than 6.9 PPR points or 33 receiving yards in any game so far.

Allen, who is in his 12th NFL season, has drawn a 21% target share, a 24.5% air-yard share, and a 26.4% first-read share, but his performance has been underwhelming with a mere 1.13 yards per route run (YPRR). However, the upcoming matchup against the Jaguars could be a turning point. Jacksonville has the eighth-highest rate of two-high defensive schemes, a scenario in which Allen has excelled, boasting a 24% target per route run (TPRR) and a 31.3% first-read share.

The Jaguars have also been vulnerable to slot receivers, allowing the seventh-highest PPR points per target and the sixth-most receiving yards to this position. Allen is expected to run about 57% of his routes against Jarrian Jones, who has a 73.3% catch rate and a 105.1 passer rating.

In the Week 6 game, Allen was involved early, with the first target of the game getting the Bears just outside the red zone. This early involvement could be a sign of things to come as the Bears look to capitalize on Allen’s potential in this favorable matchup).
