Kelyn Rowe Ballard Fc U.s. Open Cup

SEATTLE, Wash. — Kelyn Rowe has officially joined Ballard FC as they prepare for their inaugural U.S. Open Cup run. The announcement comes following Rowe’s decision to leave the Seattle Sounders, where he played a crucial role in the team’s past successes.

Ballard FC is set to face Spokane Velocity this evening at Interbay Stadium, marking an important moment for the club. In light of the Sounders’ recent struggles, particularly their loss to St. Louis City, Rowe’s participation may be a transformative factor for Ballard.

Jeremiah and Aaron, hosts of the flagship podcast ‘Nos Audietis,’ discussed the Sounders’ recent performance, highlighting concerns of decreased quality of play as they navigate injury recoveries. “It’s a tough time for the team, and we’re hoping to see improvements soon,” said Jeremiah during the podcast.

In an exclusive interview following the podcast, Rowe expressed his excitement about joining Ballard FC. “I wanted to contribute to something special,” Rowe stated. “Ballard has a great chance to make a mark in this tournament, and I’m here to help.”

The discussions on the podcast also included a new segment called “power rankings,” where they analyzed potential stadium sites for the Sounders, who are currently exploring options to build their own facility. “We want to bring the best for our fans,” Aaron added.

Meanwhile, the 2025 U.S. Open Cup will kick off this week, featuring several amateur teams facing lower-division professional squads. As the Sounders step back, the Tacoma Defiance will represent them in the First Round, taking on the Washington Athletic Club (WAC), who are making their Open Cup debut.

The WAC, often recognized by the nickname ‘Seattle RATS,’ has made a name in the local soccer scene. Team co-manager Mark Conrad, who was a former player, shared insights into the club’s journey. “We’re proud to be the first team from Washington to qualify at this level,” Conrad said.

Conrad highlighted the team’s formation which allowed a broader range of athletes to participate, and he credits the WAC’s facilities and social opportunities as key motivators for players. “The club not only offers a chance to play soccer but also to network and grow in our professional lives.”

WAC’s route to the tournament included victories over Bellevue Athletic FC and Deportivo Rose City. “We’ve witnessed a shift in interest among former Sounders and local players who are eager to participate in community soccer,” Conrad said.

As they prepare for their match against Tacoma Defiance, the WAC is motivated to create an upset. “We know it will be tough, but we are ready. My dad always told me that nothing valuable comes easy,” Conrad added.

The stakes are high for all teams involved as they aim for glory in this year’s U.S. Open Cup. With players like Rowe joining the mix, the tournament promises to deliver excitement and surprises.
