Kentucky Women’s Basketball Team Sec Tournament

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The No. 4-seed University of Kentucky women’s basketball team will battle the No. 5-seed Oklahoma in the Southeastern Conference Tournament Quarterfinals on Friday, March 7, at 2:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Big Blue Nation is invited to the Cat Walk, beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET in the Hyatt Regency Greenville hotel lobby. Fans can listen to Darren Headrick on the radio for the UK-OU game on UK Sports Network, which will air on 630 AM WLAP in Lexington. The broadcast team for the game on ESPN includes Ryan Ruocco, Rebecca Lobo, and Holly Rowe.

Kentucky holds a 44-44 all-time record in SEC Tournament games, having won seven of their last nine contests. The Wildcats secured their first No. 4 seed and received a double bye since 2020, qualifying for the quarterfinals in 14 of the last 15 seasons. The program boasts a 17-16 record in quarterfinal matchups historically.

Entering the tournament, Kentucky is ranked No. 12 in the Associated Press poll, the highest since the 2014-15 season. The Wildcats previously defeated Oklahoma 95-86 on February 2 in Norman, Oklahoma. In that game, Kentucky’s Georgia Amoore set a school record with a career-high 43 points, tying her with former players Rhyne Howard and Jennifer O’Neill for the most points scored in a single game in program history.

Amoore, recognized as the SEC Newcomer of the Year and a member of the All-SEC First Team, contributed eight assists in the win against the Sooners. Her performance made her the first player in SEC history since at least the 2002-03 season to score 43 points and record eight assists in a single game. Clara Strack, the SEC Defensive Player of the Year, recorded 19 points, three 3-pointers, six rebounds, five steals, two blocks, and an assist in that game.

With a season record of 22-6, including 11-5 in the SEC, Kentucky has achieved noteworthy milestones this year. The Wildcats scored their highest points in SEC regular-season history (1,189) since the 2012-13 season. They maintain the best field goal percentage defense in SEC regular-season play at 37.56%, also the best since 2002-03. Additionally, Kentucky saw its largest win improvement in SEC action with a +7 win difference from the previous season and their fewest SEC road losses (3) since 2018-19.

Head coach Kenny Brooks’ accomplishments have led to his inclusion on the 2024-25 Werner Ladder Naismith Women’s College Coach of the Year Watch List. For further updates about the Kentucky women’s basketball team, visit UKathletics.com or follow @KentuckyWBB on social media platforms.
