Jasper Johnson Basketball Highlights Overtime Elite

ATLANTA, Ga. — Jasper Johnson, a Kentucky signee, made headlines last night by breaking a record in the Overtime Elite playoffs. The 2025 recruit scored 19 points and dished out an impressive 14 assists in his team’s latest game, setting a new Overtime Elite mark.

Johnson, who hails from Kentucky but currently plays for Overtime Elite in Atlanta, showcased his all-around skills on the court. In addition to his record-setting assists, Johnson contributed six rebounds, two steals, and two blocks, demonstrating his versatility as a player. Johnson’s performance solidifies his reputation as a high-level prospect, instrumental in head coach Mark Pope‘s system at Kentucky.

“I just try to contribute wherever I can and make the right plays,” Johnson said after the game. “Being able to perform on this stage feels incredible, and I can’t wait to bring this energy to Lexington.”

Regarded as a knockdown shooter and a tenacious defender, Johnson’s skill set aligns perfectly with the expectations for incoming recruits at Kentucky. Given his record-breaking performance, he is poised to become a cornerstone of the Wildcats’ program and could potentially be the first one-and-done player of the Pope era.

This year’s recruiting class is shaping up to be an impressive one, with Johnson joining fellow signees Malachi Moreno, Acaden Lewis, and Trent Noah. Big Blue Nation is particularly excited about the infusion of talent, as Moreno has already been named a McDonald’s All-American for his dominating performances at Great Crossing High School.

Moreno’s season averages of 22.1 points, 14.8 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks per game underscore his impact on the game, and he is considered a game-changer for the Wildcats in the upcoming season. “Malachi has been phenomenal this year, creating a significant presence in the paint,” Johnson noted.

Acaden Lewis, while dealing with a troublesome ankle injury, has also shown flashes of brilliance during his final season at Sidwell Friends. Despite his struggles, Lewis remains a compelling playmaker who turned down offers from other prestigious programs like Duke and UConn.

The excitement surrounding this recruiting class is palpable across the Kentucky basketball community. As Johnson continues to excel in Overtime Elite, expectations grow for the Wildcats to make a significant impact in the Southeastern Conference next season. With a season that has featured standout performances and record-breaking accomplishments, the stage is set for a thrilling 2025-26 campaign.

“This class has the potential to be something special,” Johnson said, reflecting on the promise of his teammates and the future of Kentucky basketball. “I believe we can bring Kentucky back to the top where it belongs.”
