Kevin Zeitler Signs One-Year Deal with Tennessee Titans

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Veteran guard Kevin Zeitler has signed a one-year, $9 million contract with the Tennessee Titans, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday. This marks the second significant move by the Titans this week to bolster their offensive line.
On Monday, the Titans finalized a four-year, $82 million agreement with a free agent left tackle, further emphasizing their commitment to enhancing their offensive front. Zeitler’s deal follows an impressive season where he played for the Detroit Lions, showcasing his capabilities as a reliable starter.
At 35 years old, Zeitler started all 16 games during the 2024 season with Detroit, contributing to a record-breaking campaign that saw the Lions achieve a franchise-best 15 wins, amassing 6,962 total net yards and scoring 29 rushing touchdowns. Despite the team’s regular-season success, the Lions were eliminated in the playoffs after a shocking loss to the Washington Commanders.
“I’m excited to join the Titans and look forward to contributing to their offensive line’s success,” Zeitler said in a statement following the contract signing.
Originally selected by the Cincinnati Bengals as the 27th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Zeitler has enjoyed a prolific career spanning over a decade. He previously played for the Bengals, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, and Baltimore Ravens before his stint with the Lions.
In Detroit, Zeitler emerged as a key player, earning recognition with a third-best grade among guards in the league (86.8) according to Pro Football Focus. His earlier career highlights include a notable run with the Ravens, where he finally earned a Pro Bowl selection after the 2023 season, helping the team achieve the best record in the AFC.
While Zeitler’s value continues to rise, the Lions now face the challenge of replacing his presence in the lineup. Christian Mahogany, a sixth-round pick from the 2024 draft, showcased potential in limited opportunities last season, while Graham Glasgow remains an option for the team. Both players may compete for the starting guard role, but Detroit is expected to explore additional options through free agency or the upcoming NFL Draft.
As the free agency period unfolds, expectations remain high for the Lions to address their offensive line needs. Veteran guards such as Will Hernandez and Brandon Scherff are still available in the market, adding more variables to Detroit’s plan moving forward. With Zeitler’s departure, fans eagerly await how the Lions will fill this crucial gap.
