Khalil Shakir Emerges as Key Receiver for Buffalo Bills Ahead of Week 10
Khalil Shakir, the 24-year-old wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills, has been making significant contributions to the team’s offense, particularly in recent weeks. Since the addition of Amari Cooper, there were concerns about how the target share would be distributed among the receivers. However, Shakir has continued to be a reliable option for quarterback Josh Allen, receiving a substantial number of “safety valve” looks.
In the three weeks since Amari Cooper joined the team, Shakir has seen 24 targets, resulting in 22 catches and 222 yards. This performance has solidified his position as a valuable asset in fantasy football, especially in full PPR leagues where he is considered a WR2+ and in other scoring formats as a high-floor, low-ceiling back-end WR2.
In Week 9, Shakir caught 6-of-7 targets for 50 yards in the Bills’ 30-27 win over the Miami Dolphins. This solid performance reinforced his reliability as a receiver for Josh Allen, despite a slight drop from his 100-yard performance in the previous week.
As the Bills prepare to face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 10, Shakir’s consistency and target share make him a confident start for fantasy managers. The Colts present the 11th easiest opponent for receivers, which could further enhance Shakir’s performance.
Shakir’s stats this season include 18 receptions on 19 targets for 230 yards and two touchdowns, with an average of 12.8 yards per reception. His role in the Bills’ offense continues to grow, making him a key player to watch in the upcoming games.
