Los Angeles Kings goaltender David Rittich is slated to start in the upcoming game against the Montreal Canadiens, as reported by Zach Dooley on the Kings’ official website. This decision comes on the heels of a challenging performance against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In the previous game, Rittich was pulled after allowing four goals on just 14 shots, leading to a 6-2 defeat. His stint on the ice was limited to only 32 minutes and 22 seconds before he was replaced. Despite the tough outing, the Kings have opted to give Rittich another opportunity, presumably due to limited goaltending options.

Darcy Kuemper, another key goaltender for the Kings, is currently sidelined with a lower-body injury. This absence leaves Pheonix Copley as the primary alternative if Rittich were not to start. Copley himself faced a difficult time during the Toronto match, managing to save only 10 of the 12 shots he faced.

The Kings’ decision to start Rittich in back-to-back games underscores the team’s current challenges in goaltender depth due to injuries and performance issues. As they prepare to face the Canadiens, Rittich will aim to improve significantly on his previous performance.
