Kirill Kaprizov Returns as Wild Face Tough Postseason Challenge

LAS VEGAS – Kirill Kaprizov returned to the ice just in time for the Minnesota Wild‘s playoff push. After recovering from a lower-body injury that sidelined him for several months, the Wild superstar is ready to contribute as the team navigates the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs.
Facing the Vegas Golden Knights in the first round, Kaprizov expressed excitement about rejoining his teammates. “It’s always fun time,” he said. The Wild’s chances for success this postseason hinge on his performance, especially after falling short in regular season games without him.
Kaprizov was an early favorite for the NHL MVP this year but missed significant playing time due to injury. “The first couple of weeks it was a little hard… I just need good recovery and come back,” he noted. His return included a game-winning goal in overtime against the San Jose Sharks on April 9, reviving hopes for the Wild.
The Wild struggled to keep their playoff position while he was out. According to statistics, the team’s goal production dropped significantly without Kaprizov’s offensive presence, leaving them battling for wild-card spots. Despite this, he remains focused on contributing positively. “Every game’s important because it’s playoffs,” Kaprizov stated. “You lose one game or win one game, and it’s best of seven.”
In Game 1 against the Golden Knights, the results were mixed but promising. The Wild lost 4-2, with both goals coming from teammate Matt Boldy, assisted by Kaprizov. Kaprizov emphasized the importance of everyone stepping up in playoff games: “Everyone should show their best hockey.”
After their first-round loss, coach John Hynes was optimistic. He commented on how both teams played hard and that they can build on the positive elements of their game. With another chance on Tuesday for Game 2, Kaprizov’s return continues to elevate the Wild’s comeback hopes.
