New York Knicks Kevin Durant Trade Rumors

New York, NY – The New York Knicks have emerged as a leading contender in the potential trade talks for Kevin Durant this summer. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, league sources have indicated that both the Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves are the most frequently mentioned teams in regard to Durant.

Stein shared these insights in his latest newsletter, stating, ‘League sources, in particular, have been pinpointing the Timberwolves and Knicks depending on how their postseasons play out.’ This speculation around Durant, who currently plays for the Phoenix Suns, hinges on the outcomes of the postseason runs for each team.

The situation with the Rockets, who hold critical draft assets from the Suns, adds another layer to the mix. Houston has made it clear they prefer to target younger players in any major trades, making the likelihood of Durant’s move largely dependent on the Suns’ actions.

Stein noted that while Miami and San Antonio are also keeping an eye on Durant’s situation, neither team has been mentioned as frequently in league circles as the Knicks or Timberwolves. This persistent connection to the Knicks isn’t surprising given their history with Durant, who opted to join the Brooklyn Nets over New York a few years ago.

As the playoffs progress, the Knicks face a challenging summer ahead, regardless of how they fare. Coach Tom Thibodeau will be in a precarious position, especially with the future of players like Mikal Bridges in question. The Knicks are known for their aggressive approach to roster changes, which could potentially include trades involving star players.

Durant, who turns 37 in September, is currently signed through the 2025–26 season. In the 2023 season, he averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game playing for the Suns, solidifying his status as an elite player despite his age.
