Knicks’ Anunoby Cleared to Play Against Cavaliers Tonight

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The New York Knicks are set to face off against the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight, with a significant roster update emerging just before tip-off. OG Anunoby, who has been sidelined since February 1 due to a right foot sprain, is listed as available to play, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.
At 27 years old, Anunoby has been a crucial asset to the Knicks this season, averaging 16.4 points per game in his first full year with the team. His return is vital for New York as they aim to keep pace in the competitive Eastern Conference, currently sitting 2.5 games behind the Boston Celtics and eight games behind the Cavaliers.
“Getting OG back is huge for us,” said Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau. “His defensive intensity and ability to shoot from the perimeter will help us, especially against a strong team like Cleveland.”
In Anunoby’s absence, the Knicks have struggled, with key players like Josh Hart (knee) and Mitchell Robinson (ankle) also out for tonight’s matchup. Anunoby’s defensive capabilities will be especially needed to contain Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell, a prolific scorer averaging over 27 points per game this season.
In their last meeting on October 28, the Knicks fell to the Cavaliers 110-104, despite a strong showing from Jalen Brunson, who led the Knicks with 21 points. The return of Anunoby adds another dimension to their lineup, aiming to improve their chances against a well-rounded Cavaliers team.
The game is set for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN. Fans can stream the game via fuboTV.
As the Knicks prepare for this critical matchup, the hope is that Anunoby’s presence will not only bolster their defense but also energize the team as they look to strengthen their playoff positioning in the Eastern Conference.
