New York Knicks Game 5 Eastern Conference Finals

New York, NY — The New York Knicks secured a crucial 111-94 victory against the Indiana Pacers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden, keeping their playoff hopes alive.

With their backs against the wall, the Knicks needed a strong performance to avoid elimination after falling behind 3-1 in the series. Jalen Brunson delivered, scoring 32 points in just 34 minutes, igniting his team from the very start.

Brunson wasted no time, scoring on the game’s opening possession and continuing to find the net, contributing greatly to an early double-digit lead. By the end of the first quarter, the Knicks held a 27-23 advantage, thanks to Brunson’s aggressive play.

“He set the tone,” said Josh Hart, who added pivotal contributions of his own. “He’s tough enough for it.”

Karl-Anthony Towns also played a significant role, adding 24 points and 13 rebounds, showcasing his skill despite recent questions surrounding his knee injury. Coach Tom Thibodeau noted the importance of Towns’ performance, especially under pressure.

The Knicks’ defense, led by Mikal Bridges, effectively contained Indiana’s star player, Tyrese Haliburton, limiting him to just eight points on the night.

As the game progressed, the Knicks built a lead of as many as 22 points, responding well to the pressures of the elimination game. The crowd erupted as they sensed a shift in momentum, chanting “Knicks in 7” as time wound down.

The series now shifts back to Indiana for Game 6 on Saturday, with the Knicks aiming to continue their comeback. “It’s been a hard-fought series,” Thibodeau said. “You’ve gotta keep fighting every game, every possession.”

Brunson’s performance tied him for the Knicks’ postseason record, having reached 30 or more points in 20 playoff games. The team’s confidence is rising as they look to extend their playoff journey.
