NEW YORK, NY – Landry Shamet delivered a standout performance on Sunday, scoring a season-high 29 points in the New York Knicks‘ 113-105 victory over the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center. The win marked an important finale as the Knicks head into the playoffs.

During the game, Shamet displayed exceptional shooting skills, making seven of his first nine attempts from three-point range and finishing the night at 7-of-13 from beyond the arc. His scoring output was just two points shy of his career-best of 31, achieved on December 20, 2022. “It’s what he does,” teammate Miles McBride said. “He works hard. We see it all the time. It’s not a surprise.”

Shamet’s recent performance has seen an uptick, averaging 11.6 points per game since March 25. This marks a significant milestone in his career, surpassing his scoring rates from previous seasons. His contributions also included scoring 15 points in a prior loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers and 20 points in a victory over the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this month.

According to statistics, Shamet’s three-point shooting efficiency has been remarkable; he currently ranks fourth among qualifying NBA players with a 47.4 percent shooting rate from downtown since late March.

“The way he finished the season was terrific. He just makes really good basketball plays,” said Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau after the game. “He knows how to space the floor, how to move without the ball, he’s good in transition, knows how to play off people. He doesn’t force things.”

Shamet’s journey to this moment included a twist; the Knicks initially signed him to an Exhibit-10 training contract, later waiving him. However, Shamet found new footing when selected second overall in the 2025 G-League Draft by the Knicks’ G-League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks, which played a role in his rehabilitation.

As the Knicks prepare for the playoffs, they are counting on Shamet to provide much-needed depth, especially given their struggles with bench scoring. Thibodeau indicated he is prepared to shorten his rotation for the postseason. “You just do what’s best for the team,” he stated.

The Knicks are expected to rely heavily on their starters – Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, Josh Hart, and Karl-Anthony Towns – with Shamet, Cameron Payne, and Precious Achiuwa available to rotate in as needed.

Bridges, who previously played for the Nets, expressed appreciation for his time in Brooklyn after the game, reflecting on his history with the organization and his connection to teammates like Cam Johnson. “I always love playing here… it’s a great energy when I walk into here,” Bridges noted.
