New York, NY – The New York Knicks have signed former first-round pick MarJon Beauchamp to a two-way contract, a league source confirmed Monday. Beauchamp, a 6-foot-7 forward, was drafted 24th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2022 but was released by the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday after a brief stint.

Beauchamp, 24, has had a challenging start to his NBA career, averaging 4.2 points and 1.9 rebounds per game across 129 contests, with just 12 starts. The Knicks’ decision to bring him on board follows the waiving of players Matt Ryan and Jacob Toppin, opening up two-way roster spots.

“MarJon is a talented player with a lot of potential,” said Knicks General Manager Scott Perry. “We believe he can add depth to our roster and enhance our performance as we move into the playoff stretch.”

Before being moved to the Clippers, Beauchamp played two seasons with the Bucks but struggled to secure a consistent role in their lineup. In his time with Milwaukee, he primarily saw action in limited minutes, often during garbage time of games.

The Knicks, currently sitting third in the Eastern Conference, are making strategic moves as they aim for a deep playoff run. Their recent success has been attributed to a strong offensive lineup, but questions linger regarding their performance against elite teams.

“This is a low-risk signing that could yield significant rewards,” said basketball analyst Eric Pincus. “If the coaching staff can find a way to tap into Beauchamp’s skill set, he could become a valuable asset during the playoffs.”

The Knicks plan to assess Beauchamp’s fit and contributions over the upcoming weeks. He is eligible to participate in 12 of the remaining 22 regular-season games, giving the coaching staff ample opportunity to evaluate his potential role in their playoff strategy.

As the season intensifies, New York is looking to bolster its roster amid increasing competition. With star players Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns having standout seasons, every addition is seen as pivotal to their championship aspirations. Beauchamp’s signing reflects the Knicks’ commitment to exploring all avenues in their pursuit of success.

“It’s all about finding the right pieces,” said head coach Tom Thibodeau. “MarJon comes with experience that could be beneficial as we build toward the playoffs.”
