Knicks Pacers Game 5 Highlights

NEW YORK – The New York Knicks avoided elimination with a 111-94 victory over the Indiana Pacers at Madison Square Garden on Thursday.

Jalen Brunson scored 32 points, leading the Knicks to a must-win performance in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals. With this win, the Knicks forced a Game 6 in Indiana on Saturday.

New York’s defense showed up when it mattered most, limiting the Pacers to just 94 points, the lowest they have scored in the playoffs this season. The Knicks held the Pacers to 94 points on 97 possessions, reflecting a strong defensive effort.

Brunson, who shot 12 of 18 from the field, wasted no time establishing dominance, scoring the first six points of the game. Karl-Anthony Towns contributed significantly with 24 points and 13 rebounds, despite dealing with foul trouble.

Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau praised his team’s intensity. “We played harder than them, won the loose ball battles, and secured rebounds,” he said.

On the other hand, the Pacers struggled offensively, particularly Tyrese Haliburton, who managed only eight points after a strong Game 4. He took responsibility for the team’s lackluster performance, admitting, “Rough night for me.”

The dynamics shifted significantly in this game, as the Knicks asserted their will from the start. Indiana, which had previously dominated with their fast-paced offense, found itself stifled by New York’s defensive adjustments.

The Knicks showcased their depth with a full rotation, featuring contributions from Landry Shamet and Delon Wright, who played their roles effectively. Although the bench was outscored by nine points during Towns’ time on the bench, they helped maintain the team’s energy.

The series now stands at 3-2 in favor of Indiana, as the Knicks look to carry their momentum into Game 6. With the Oklahoma City Thunder waiting for the Eastern Conference champion, both teams know that every possession counts in the playoff race.

As the Knicks prepare for the next challenge, the critical question remains: Can they replicate this defensive intensity on the road? The Pacers will have the home-court advantage, making the stakes even higher for both teams in the next match.
