Knicks’ Towns Questionable, DiVincenzo Out for Timberwolves Rematch
NEW YORK — The New York Knicks‘ Karl-Anthony Towns is questionable for Friday’s game against his former team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, due to a sprained right thumb. Meanwhile, Donte DiVincenzo will miss his return to Madison Square Garden with a toe injury.
The matchup marks the Knicks’ first home game against the Timberwolves since acquiring Towns in a blockbuster trade that sent DiVincenzo and other assets to Minnesota just after training camps opened. The Knicks previously defeated the Timberwolves in Minnesota last month.
Towns sustained the injury during a loss on Monday and sat out the Knicks’ victory on Wednesday. Despite the injury, reports indicate that Towns plans to play through the pain, as surgery is not necessary or anticipated. The star center is averaging 25.4 points and 13.5 rebounds per game in his debut season with the Knicks.
DiVincenzo, who recently moved into the Timberwolves’ starting lineup, scored a season-high 28 points in a narrow 116-115 loss on Wednesday. However, Minnesota listed him as out on their injury report Thursday due to a sprained left big toe.
The game carries added significance as both teams navigate injuries and roster adjustments. The Knicks are looking to build on their recent success, while the Timberwolves aim to rebound from a challenging stretch.
