Knicks Trail Pacers 56-45 at Halftime in Game 5 of East Finals

NEW YORK — The New York Knicks trail the Indiana Pacers 56-45 at halftime in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals on May 29, 2025. The Knicks look to stay alive in the series as they face elimination.
Jalen Brunson of the Knicks scored the first six points of the game, contributing 14 points in the first half. He shot 6-for-10 from the field and made two contested three-pointers. His performance helped the Knicks outscore the Pacers 16-14 in the paint.
Karl-Anthony Towns was another standout for New York, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the first half. He has been key for the Knicks with his aggressive play inside, achieving a +17 plus/minus rating.
The Pacers struggled offensively, especially their starters, who combined for just 22 points in the first half. All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton managed only four points, all from the free-throw line, and missed all three field goals.
Despite these challenges, the Pacers bench played well, keeping the game within reach. They shot 37.5% from the field compared to the Knicks’ 51.1%. If the Pacers hope to win, their star players need to step up significantly in the second half.
As the second quarter ended, the Knicks crafted an 11-point lead with help from Brunson and Towns. The momentum shifted late in the quarter as the Knicks closed strong, pushing their lead before heading to the locker room.
With their backs against the wall, the urgency for the Knicks is palpable. They have struggled to maintain consistency but have shown flashes of potential. If they can keep the score in double digits heading into the second half, they might stand a chance to prolong their playoff hopes.
HALFTIME – Knicks 56, Pacers 45.
