Kobee Minor Named Mr. Irrelevant After NFL Draft

NEWPORT BEACH, California — The 2025 NFL Draft concluded with the New England Patriots selecting cornerback Kobee Minor with the final pick, known as Mr. Irrelevant, on April 26, 2025. Minor, who played his last season at Memphis, joins the Patriots to compete for a spot on their roster.
Minor, who has a unique college journey, started his career at Texas Tech, where he played three seasons before transferring to Indiana in 2023, and then to Memphis in 2024. During his final collegiate season at Memphis, he recorded 38 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, and six passes defensed in 11 games.
Minor’s performance has prepared him for the challenges ahead as he joins a deep and competitive cornerback room in New England. His experience on special teams could prove beneficial as the Patriots look to strengthen their defensive lineup.
In a time-honored tradition, Minor will celebrate his selection as Mr. Irrelevant with a week of events in Newport Beach, including a visit to Disneyland and a golf tournament. This annual celebration, organized by Paul Salata, offers a light-hearted take on being the last player chosen in the draft.
The Patriots have previously selected Mr. Irrelevant twice, including linebacker Marty Moore in 1994 and tight end Andy Stokes in 2005. Minor’s selection adds to the legacy of this unique title.
As the NFL Draft comes to a close, Minor’s journey continues as he aims to make his mark in the league, facing seasoned players like Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis in New England’s cornerback competition.
