Seattle Kraken Vs Vegas Golden Knights

SEATTLE, Wash. — The Seattle Kraken are set to face the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday night at Climate Pledge Arena, looking to build on their successful season opener. The Kraken won their first game of the season against the Anaheim Ducks with a score of 3-1, showing promising plays and strong defense.

In their last game, defenseman Brandon Montour made significant contributions, including a key assist to Mason Marchment for the go-ahead goal. Coach Lane Lambert praised Montour, stating, “He drives us, he drives the offense,” emphasizing the importance of his performance despite missing much of training camp due to an ankle injury.

Vince Dunn also shone brightly, scoring the first goal of the season within the first three minutes of the game. Dunn, now healthy after various injuries in previous seasons, is expected to enhance the team’s play this season and will join Montour in one of the team’s power play units against Vegas.

Lambert expressed confidence in both defensemen, stating that their health could be a game-changer for the Kraken this season. Previously, Dunn missed 20 games last season and 23 games in 2023-24 but reached a career-high 64 points in the 2022-23 season.

As for the Kraken’s power play strategy, they faced challenges in their last game, going 0-for-2 with the man advantage. Lambert noted that the team created scoring opportunities but needed to focus on shooting more instead of trying to be too fancy with the puck. “We have to continue to shoot the puck,” he said after practice.

The Golden Knights bring a strong lineup into this matchup, featuring new winger Mitch Marner and center Jack Eichel, who recently signed a lucrative contract extension. In their previous game, Vegas showcased their offensive talents and will be a formidable opponent for the Kraken.

Sky-high expectations surround Marner and Eichel following their early performances where they each scored vital points to push the Knights in their games. Lambert urged his team to maintain physicality and strong defensive play against the Golden Knights to be successful.
