The North Queensland Cowboys have confirmed that Kyle Feldt, the club’s record try scorer, will depart at the conclusion of the 2024 season.

Born and raised in Townsville, Feldt has been a pivotal figure in the Cowboys’ success, making his NRL debut in 2013. He recently surpassed Matt Bowen‘s long-standing try scoring record for the club earlier this season, achieving a total of 131 tries.

Feldt’s most memorable achievement came during the 2015 NRL grand final. He scored a crucial try just before full-time, which allowed the Cowboys to level the match against the Brisbane Broncos, leading them to victory in a thrilling golden point finish.

In a statement, Feldt expressed his feelings about leaving the Cowboys, stating, “This hasn’t been an easy decision to make, but I feel the time is right. I’ve been fortunate to live out my childhood dream to play for my hometown team.”

Thursday’s upcoming match against the Melbourne Storm will be dedicated to honoring the careers of both Feldt and fellow Life Member Jake Granville. Fans are encouraged to remain in the stadium to give Feldt a fitting farewell after the match.

Cowboys General Manager Michael Luck praised Feldt’s contributions to the team, highlighting his role in the club’s inaugural premiership and expressing well wishes for his future endeavors.
