COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former Ohio State champion wrestler Kyle Snyder is expected to plead guilty to a lesser charge following his arrest in a prostitution sting last week, ABC 6 confirmed on Thursday.

Snyder, a 29-year-old Olympic gold medalist and three-time NCAA champion, was among 16 men arrested by Columbus police on May 9. He faces a charge of disorderly conduct, a fourth-degree misdemeanor, after the original prostitution charge was classified as a first-degree misdemeanor.

During a virtual hearing on Monday, Snyder plans to enter his plea, according to his attorney. Snyder expressed appreciation to those who have shown him support, stating, “My focus is on my relationship with the Lord Jesus and my family. This is not the conclusion of my journey.”

The arrest occurred when Snyder allegedly responded to an internet ad and engaged in a transaction with an undercover officer in a hotel room, according to police reports. Body cam footage revealed his calm demeanor as he cooperated with the officers during the questioning.

Snyder is scheduled to compete next at the Final X event in June, aiming for a spot on Team USA for the World Championships. He is a decorated athlete, becoming the youngest American to win an Olympic gold medal in wrestling in 2016, with additional accolades, including a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

With 30 total gold medals from competitions including the Olympics and World Championships, Snyder has solidified his legacy in the sport. His notable collegiate career includes a 75-5 record and three consecutive NCAA championships at heavyweight from 2016 to 2018.
