Kyrie Irving Speaks Out on Injuries and Team Support

Dallas, Texas – Kyrie Irving, the star guard for the Dallas Mavericks, opened up about the challenges of this season, including injuries and media scrutiny, in a recent interview.
Irving, who has been sidelined due to injuries, expressed frustration over how media outlets have been targeting his coach, Jason Kidd, and the Mavericks franchise. He emphasized the need for support rather than blame, stating, “I’m telling you right now: if you ask 95% of the league… they’d rather play 35 minutes a night over 15 minutes.”
Injuries have plagued the Mavericks this season, with Irving himself leading the league in minutes before going down with an injury. Despite the turmoil, he remains focused on building a positive relationship with fans and the community. “Please keep supporting us in a way that is different from before,” he urged. “We need to change up our relationship a bit—so it can be built on more positivity.”
Reflecting on his time in Dallas, Irving described his journey as filled with both highs and lows due to injuries. “This season has been up and down. It’s been filled with injuries,” he stated. “A lot of this would just be noise under the bridge.”
He vividly remembered a moment at the free-throw line when he felt overwhelmed: “I’m hurting. I’m crying. I got millions of people watching me.” Irving recognized the emotional weight of his situation and the support surrounding him. “I got millions of people praying for me,” he said. “They’re feeling the same pain that I’m feeling.”
Irving also addressed the need for the Mavericks’ culture to evolve. “I’m so grateful to be surrounded by a community like Dallas, where we love sports,” he said. “But at the same time, our culture is being rebuilt as we speak.”
As the team navigates its obstacles, Irving emphasized the importance of focusing on the present rather than dwelling on past mistakes or blaming others. “Let’s just focus on where we are now,” he concluded. “We can only deal with what we’re doing now.”
